The Clemson gymnastics team is set to enter their second season with high hopes and even higher expectations. Known as “Team Two,” the Tigers are looking to build onto their solid foundation laid in their inaugural season. With Head Coach Amy Smith at the helm, the team has seen significant growth and looks to make an even bigger impact as one of the newest teams in collegiate gymnastics.

Key Returners

The Tigers are set to have a very experienced team this season as they have everyone back from last year's “Team One” except for one in Kaitlin DeGuzman. Leading the way for “Team Two” is all-arounder Rebecca Wells, who was named to the ACC Preseason Watch List, making it her second year in a row on the list. Last season, Wells led the team with seven all-around titles, All-ACC, and All-ACC Tournament nods. She also made an individual appearance in the all-around during the NCAA Gymnastics Championships.

Eve Jackson is another gymnast to watch this season. Jackson was also named to the ACC Preseason Watch List, making it her first. Last season, Eve competed in the all-around six times and won two events on bars with scores of 9.825 and 9.850. She looks to improve those this upcoming season.

Brie Clark also had a breakout season last year with excellent performances on beam and floor. Clark collected five event wins on the floor last season with a floor routine like no other, gathering high scores of 9.950 and 9.925. Brie also made an individual appearance on floor during the NCAA Gymnastics Championships. She looks to have another successful season for the Tigers.

The Tigers also have many more great performers on the team, such as Kielyn McCright on beam, Molly Arnold on vault and floor, Lilly Lippeatt on bars, beam, and floor, and Lauren Rutherford on vault, bars, and floor, just to name a few. This team is so talented that any individual on the team can set the Tigers up to have a great year.

New Faces

“Team Two” will also welcome three new athletes who will add even more firepower to the team. Freshman Hannah Clark from Huntington Beach, California, who was named to the ACC Newcomer Watch List, will bring her talents to the Tigers. Danika Nielsen, a freshman from Gilbert, Arizona, and graduate transfer Tara Walsh from Michigan State, will also contribute to the team's continued growth and success. These new additions will help improve the team's already impressive depth.

The 2025 Schedule

The Tigers' 2025 campaign will kick off at the Sprouts Collegiate Quad Meet in Oklahoma City on January 10th, where they’ll face Arizona, NC State, and Michigan. This will offer the first glimpse of how “Team Two” is shaping up for the season. The following week, Clemson will begin ACC competition with a meet at Pitt, followed by a trip to ACC newcomer California on January 26th. At the end of the month, the Tigers will return to Littlejohn Coliseum for a rematch against Pitt, where their home crowd will provide the electric atmosphere that made last year’s meets so memorable.

After a trip to Chapel Hill for a meet against North Carolina on February 9th, Clemson will host three consecutive home meets against NC State, Stanford, and a three-team meet featuring University of New Hampshire and Texas Woman's University. The Tigers will then hit the road again to Washington, D.C., for a meet against Penn State and George Washington University. The regular season will wrap up with a final home meet at Littlejohn Coliseum on March 14th against Penn State before the Tigers head to Greensboro for the ACC Championships on March 22nd.

A Season Full of Potential

The Clemson gymnastics team will enter the 2025 season with a mix of experienced leadership and fresh talent to add into the mix. Head Coach Amy Smith is looking to return her team to the NCAA Championships, where they look to make a deep run as a team in only its second year. While the competition will be tough, the Tigers are ready to push themselves to new heights, both in individual performances and as a team. The 2025 season looks to be an exciting and successful season for “Team Two.”
