The Clemson gymnastics team is hitting the road for Pittsburgh to face the Panthers in their first ACC meet of the season. Clemson and Pitt met multiple times last season in home-and-home competitions, with the Tigers emerging victorious in both meets, scoring 196.200 and 196.375.

Both teams enter this matchup after opening their seasons in quad meets. Clemson competed in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad against Michigan, Arizona, and ACC rival NC State. The Tigers finished third with a score of 195.350, narrowly beating the reigning ACC champions, NC State, who posted a 195.000.

Clemson is hopeful that all-arounder Rebecca Wells will return to full competition this week. Last week, Wells was limited to competing on bars after sustaining an ankle injury in practice. Despite the injury, she scored a solid 9.750. A healthy Wells would provide a significant boost to Clemson's lineup.

Another standout for the Tigers last week was Quinn Kuhl, who expanded her role this season. Previously a beam specialist, Kuhl competed on beam, vault, and bars in the opener, earning impressive scores of 9.750 on beam and scoring 9.775 on both vault and bars. Her versatility will be a key asset for Clemson during this meet and the rest of the season.

Lilly Lippeatt also delivered a strong performance, competing on beam, bars, and floor. She recorded scores of 9.775 on beam, 9.825 on bars, and 9.825 on floor, showcasing her consistency to rack up competitive scores. Look for Lilly to bring her competitive edge and fiery energy in this meet against Pitt.

For Pitt, the Panthers opened their season at the Next Level Podium Challenge, where they faced Illinois State, George Washington, and Western Michigan. Pitt claimed victory with a team score of 195.575, thanks to standout performances from Jah'Liyah Bedminster (9.850 on bars), Elizabeth Cesarone (9.850 on vault), and Jordyn Ewing (9.900 on floor). The Panthers excelled on bars and floor, scoring 49.025 and 49.000, respectively. These are areas where Clemson also performs well during meets, so we are in store for a treat.

This meet promises to be a competitive showdown as Clemson seeks its first ACC win of the season. The Tigers and Panthers will square off Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Fitzgerald Field House, with coverage available on ACC Network Extra.
