"Another Clemson Run-Rule W"

The Clemson Tigers faced off against the Furman Paladins, with the Tigers looking for their 12th win in a row. Clemson dominated from the first inning onward after taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Tigers held onto that lead for the rest of the game and secured a dominant 12-0 run-rule victory. Marian Collins was the star for Clemson, going 2-for-2 while hitting a three-run homer to blow the game open. Reese Basinger picked up the win for the Tigers, while Lily O'Bryan took the loss for the Paladins.

Clemson Strikes in the First Inning

The Clemson Tigers got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first inning after Macey Cintron worked out of a jam in the top half of the frame. The inning started with two quick flyouts from Alex Brown and Maddie Moore, but a Julia Knowler walk ignited the Tigers’ rally. Cintron followed up with a walk of her own, putting runners on first and second for Sam Minish. The freshman from Hull, Georgia, came up clutch with an RBI double to score Knowler and give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.

Clemson Extends the Lead in the Second

The Tigers continued to swing the bat well in the bottom of the second, extending their lead to four. The inning began with singles from Marian Collins and Jamison Brockenbrough, bringing up Alex Brown with runners in scoring position. Brown did not disappoint, lining an RBI double into left-center field to put the Tigers up by two. Clemson wasn’t done there, as Maddie Moore’s RBI groundout and Julia Knowler’s RBI single extended the lead to 4-0 heading into the third inning.

Collins and Co. Blow It Open

Marian Collins and the Tigers broke the game wide open in the bottom of the third inning when her home run gave Clemson a 7-0 lead. Ava Wilson and Aby Vieira singled to bring up Collins, who delivered in a big way with her three-run blast. But the Tigers still weren’t done. Alex Brown’s bunt resulted in a run after a throwing error by Furman third baseman Rachel Hawkins allowed Jamison Brockenbrough to score. Macey Cintron then gave the Tigers a nine-run lead heading into the fourth after her RBI groundout scored Alex Brown.

Clemson’s offensive barrage continued in the fourth inning as they extended the lead to 12. Riley Fennell led off with a double and came around to score on a wild pitch, making it 10-0. After Kylee Johnson walked, Haylee Whitesides stepped up and crushed a two-run homer over the left-field wall, putting Clemson ahead 12-0.
