Tri-Meet at Littlejohn
The Clemson Tigers gymnastics team hosted their first-ever tri-meet at Littlejohn Coliseum, facing off against the Texas Woman’s Owls and the New Hampshire Wildcats. The meet also served as Clemson’s annual Military Appreciation event, with the Tigers sporting their signature purple camo leotards in honor of those who serve.
Clemson delivered a strong performance, securing victory in their first tri-meet at Littlejohn with a final team score of 195.825. Let’s break down how the action unfolded.
Vault
Quinn Kuhl kicked off the meet for the Tigers on vault, scoring a 9.725 with her Yurchenko Full. Maggie Holman followed with a Front Handspring Pike Half, earning a 9.850. Madison Minner posted a season-high 9.875 with a Tucked Yurchenko 1.5, matched by Tara Walsh, who notched a career-best 9.875 for her Yurchenko 1.5. Eve Jackson added a 9.825 with the same vault, while Molly Arnold made her return to the lineup with a Yurchenko Half, scoring a 9.725.
After the first rotation, Clemson led the meet with a 49.150, followed by TWU at 48.325 and New Hampshire at 47.750.
Bars
Lilly Lippeatt opened the bars rotation for Clemson with a stuck landing, earning a 9.850. Takoda Berry contributed a 9.725, while Eve Jackson and Lauren Rutherford each scored 9.825. Rebecca Wells saved her landing to score a 9.750, and Hannah Clark anchored with a team-high 9.875.
Clemson maintained their lead after two rotations with a team total of 98.275, ahead of TWU (95.825) and New Hampshire (95.475).
Beam
Lippeatt once again led off, scoring a 9.800 after saving her dismount. Brie Clark followed with a strong 9.875. Danika Nielsen suffered a fall, scoring 8.950, while Tara Walsh (9.600) and Sierra Church (9.425) each fought through near falls. Quinn Kuhl closed the rotation with a 9.775.
Despite some struggles on beam, Clemson held onto their lead with a total of 146.750 heading into the final rotation, ahead of TWU (145.000) and New Hampshire (144.225).
Floor
Lippeatt started off on floor but stepped out of bounds, scoring a 9.750. Holman and Minner each posted solid 9.825 routines, while Arnold added a 9.700. Jackson impressed with a 9.875, and Clark capped off the meet with a 9.800, and made history as the first collegiate gymnast to successfully compete the Biles I on floor!
Final Results
The Tigers secured the win with a final score of 195.825, outscoring TWU (193.975) and New Hampshire (192.325). Clemson now wraps up their three-meet homestand and will hit the road for their next competition.
