Florida State Softball Coach Lonni Alameda Announces Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Florida State University Softball Coach Lonni Alameda shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite the news, Coach Alameda remains in good spirits and confident in her medical team and treatment plan.


As a six-time ACC Coach of the Year and NFCA Hall of Famer, Alameda is widely regarded as one of the top softball coaches in the country. Since taking over the Seminoles program in 2009, she has led the team to numerous Women’s College World Series appearances, including a National Championship in 2018.
