No. 15 Clemson Lacrosse snapped its four-game losing streak by dominating Louisville 14-2. Lindsey Marshall led the offensive charge with six goals, tying her career-game high. The first goal of the day marked her 150th career goal, the 19th-most among active Division 1 players. In her first season with the Tigers, Marshall has already proven to be an excellent addition to the program.
The Maryland native is one of five new graduate transfers signed by Clemson this season. In her senior year at Towson University, she started all 16 games and finished second on the team in points with 52 from 42 goals and 10 assists. Marshall was named to the All-CAA Second Team and received a CAA Preseason All-Conference Team nomination in 2024.
Now, with the Tigers, Marshall has been a key contributor to the offense, setting new program records. Clemson started with their longest winning streak, going 6-0, outscoring opponents 106-48. They had major victories over previously ranked No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 6 Syracuse. This firepower propelled the program to earn a No. 7 ranking in previous weeks, marking its first time in the top 10. However, matchups against difficult ACC opponents like Duke and North Carolina caused trouble for the team.
Due to Kayla MacLeod often being the focus of opponents' defense, it has opened up space for other attackers to find the back of the net. Marshall has capitalized on these opportunities and leads the team in points with 35 off 30 goals this season. Her shifty 5-9 frame allows for quick dodges around defenders to get open shots. The graduate attacker is ranked seventh in the ACC in total goals and ninth in goals per game.
Despite the mid-season lull, it seems Clemson is getting back on track. The recent ACC victory hopefully reestablished confidence as the team’s resilience is being tested. If her play against Louisville is any indication, then Marshall is ready to power Clemson to its first winning ACC season. Look to see the Tigers take on the University of Albany at home on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
