Pitching has been a central theme for the Clemson Tigers baseball team this season, and while the staff continues to develop as a whole, one name has consistently delivered in high-pressure moments, Lucas Mahlstedt.

The senior right-hander from Ormond Beach, Florida, has established himself as Clemson’s go-to closer. Mahlstedt currently leads the nation with nine saves and has also been credited with two wins. His most recent win came in a clutch 3.1-inning relief appearance last Friday at Georgia Tech, where he helped lock down a 9–7 victory, his longest outing of the season.

Mahlstedt has been nearly untouchable on the mound, posting a stellar 1.09 ERA over 12 appearances. In 24.2 innings pitched, he’s allowed just four runs, showing remarkable control and poise in tight situations.

His dominance hasn’t gone unnoticed. Both Perfect Game and D1Baseball named him a Midseason First-Team All-American, recognizing his role as one of the top relievers in college baseball.

As Clemson looks to build momentum heading into the heart of ACC play, Mahlstedt’s presence in the bullpen provides a reliable weapon late in games. With his ability to shut the door, the Tigers have a legitimate anchor to lean on during the stretch run.
