The No. 3 Clemson Tigers baseball team will host the Stanford Cardinal for the first-ever meeting at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, marking a historic ACC matchup. The Tigers and Cardinal have only crossed paths twice in history, with their last encounter occurring in Omaha back in 2000, a game Stanford won behind pitcher Justin Wayne. Now, 25 years later, these two programs finally reunite for an exciting weekend series.

Clemson enters this series after a midweek 4-2 victory over Gardner-Webb, which improved their impressive home record to 20-3. Jacob Jarrell provided the fireworks Wednesday night, smashing two home runs to propel the Tigers to victory.

Currently sitting atop the ACC standings with a 9-3 conference record and an overall mark of 31-5, Clemson aims to solidify its league position with another series win. The Tigers have their eyes firmly set on keeping pace ahead of Georgia Tech and maintaining momentum as postseason play approaches.

Stanford, in its first season competing in ACC baseball, has experienced a rough welcome, currently holding a 5-10 record in conference play and 18-12 overall. The Cardinal snapped a tough skid on Monday with a 4-0 shutout win against UC Davis, bouncing back from a challenging weekend where they suffered an 18-2 run-rule defeat to Georgia Tech, capping off the sweep for the Yellow Jackets.

Led by eighth-year Head Coach David Esquer, Stanford boasts a capable offense averaging 6.8 runs per game, paced by standout hitters Temo Becerra and Tatum Marsh. Both are batting .371, with Marsh boasting an impressive 1.039 OPS. Trevor Haskins provides power for the Cardinal, leading the team with nine home runs and 29 RBIs.

Though pitching matchups haven't been officially announced, Clemson's ace Aidan Knaak, the consistent Friday night starter this season, is expected to get the nod to kick off the series.
