USBWA National Team of the Week Honors

Let's give a huge round of applause to Coach Shawn Poppie and the Clemson Women’s Basketball team for being named the USBWA National Team of the Week! The Tigers are currently 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. They swept the West Coast newcomers, California and Stanford, with a perfect 2-0 record last week. The Tigers took down 20th-ranked California with a 69-58 victory last Thursday. Sunday was a heart-pounding overtime showdown as the Tigers took down Stanford 65-61.

Leading the charge for Clemson is Loyal McQueen, who averaged an impressive 22 points, four assists, and three rebounds in the last two games. McQueen has been a force at the free-throw line as well, with an incredible 89 percent free-throw percentage during these games.

But it's not just McQueen lighting up the court! Mia Moore delivered 14 points and snagged five rebounds against Cal. Raven Thompson was phenomenal on Sunday, scoring 17 points and being the only player to nail three-point shots against Stanford. Anya Poole during her 24 minutes on the court against Stanford, scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds, and provided clutch defense when it mattered most. Thompson and Poole were exceptional off the bench, delivering the crucial performance Clemson needed to secure the victory.

The Tigers are back home this Thursday to take on the Virginia Cavaliers. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM EST at Littlejohn Coliseum. Don't miss the chance to cheer on this incredible team as they continue their journey!
